Supporting Offshore Assets Worldwide
We support planned construction, maintenance and repair work across the offshore sector:
- Drilling rigs and jack-up units
- Production platforms and FPSOs
- Offshore support and construction vessels
- Subsea, mooring and heavy-lift equipment
- Fabrication, dry-dock and operational projects
Rapid Mobilisation. Proven Delivery.
Offshore downtime is high-value and time-critical. Our teams work alongside asset personnel, yards and OEMs to complete precision work safely within demanding maintenance and construction programmes.
We bring proven experience in:
- Planned maintenance and dry-dock periods
- Emergency breakdown response
- Machining during fabrication and new-build programmes
- Confined and operational environments
- Complex repairs completed on or close to the asset
Reduce Downtime. Avoid Unnecessary Replacement.
In-situ machining and component recovery can remove the need for lengthy strip-down, specialist transport and replacement lead times. The result is a faster route back to operation, lower total repair cost and extended equipment life.

Offshore Projects Delivered Worldwide
Six Jack-Up Rigs – KIP Elevating Unit Bores
Metalock machined shaft-bearing locations on all three legs of six jack-up rigs, using specialist on-site boring equipment to restore the required bore geometry.
5,600Te Main Reel Shaft – Offshore Construction
Metalock used orbital machining and laser-tracker control to machine two exceptionally large bearing journals on a 14.5-metre reel shaft.
The 1,180mm and 1,800mm diameter journals were completed round, parallel and aligned within 0.10mm, supporting smooth operation and reduced bearing stress.
FPSO Mooring Turret Machining During Fabrication
Metalock’s metrology and on-site machining teams worked together on a large FPSO turret system, using laser-tracker measurements to control machining across the turret bearing flange, torsion box and moon-pool areas.
Offshore Supply Vessel Propshaft Recovery
After failure of a bearing journal on a 160mm diameter, 6.5-metre propeller shaft, Metalock rebuilt the worn area using a 3mm thermal-sprayed deposit before machining it to size.
The repair allowed a standard split bearing to be fitted and avoided options that could have taken the operator weeks.
