Maximise Vessel Availability. Minimise Refit and Repair Time.
Security cleared, specialist on-site machining and repair services for naval vessels
Metalock Engineering provides precision on-site machining, repair, metrology and engineering support for naval surface vessels, submarines and support vessels during construction, active service and major refit periods.
We work directly with international navies, shipbuilders, refit yards and the OEMs supplying their machinery and equipment. Completing work in situ can avoid unnecessary dismantling and transport while helping vessels return to operational readiness sooner.
Technicians assigned to naval work are security vetted and cleared for work on warships.

Supporting the Full Naval Sector
Our teams integrate with naval authorities, yards and OEMs across:
- Surface combatants and patrol vessels
- Submarines and sub-surface vessels
- Auxiliary and support vessels
- New-build construction programmes
- Major refit and life-extension programmes
Rapid Mobilisation. Proven Delivery.
Vessel availability and fixed refit windows demand reliable execution. Metalock teams mobilise globally and work alongside ship staff, yard teams and equipment suppliers in confined and operational environments.
We bring proven experience in:
- Planned refit and docking periods
- Emergency defect rectification
- New-build machining programmes
- Complex in-situ repairs
- Machining of propulsion and mission-system interfaces
Precision, Security and Control.
Naval engineering work requires accuracy, discretion and disciplined project delivery. Combining metrology with purpose-designed portable machining equipment allows our teams to measure, machine and verify critical interfaces without removing major assemblies from the vessel.

Naval Projects Delivered
RV Triton – Stern-Tube Line Boring and Facing
During construction of QinetiQ’s research trimaran RV Triton at Vosper Thornycroft in Southampton, Metalock line bored and faced the vessel’s stern-tube arrangements in situ.
The work supported the precision installation requirements created by the vessel’s unusual trimaran hull configuration.
HMS Endurance – Stern-Tube Seal Retrofit
Metalock supported a stern-tube seal modification on the Royal Navy ice patrol vessel HMS Endurance, carrying out specialist machining directly on the vessel as part of the retrofit programme.
Allen Gears – Bearing-Pocket Transplant
Working with Allen Gears, Metalock completed a bearing-pocket transplant in an aluminium-alloy gearbox casing, restoring the damaged location instead of replacing the complete casing.
Naval Weapons Seatings – Greece
Metalock machined weapons seatings in situ for naval vessels at Elefsis in Greece, providing the flatness and positional control needed for subsequent system installation.
