Purpose of the job
The Welder is responsible for joining metal parts using various welding techniques to fabricate, repair, and maintain equipment, structures, and piping systems. The role requires adherence to engineering drawings, welding procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations to ensure high-quality workmanship.

Characterization
Involve and participate independently all Shop & On site and shop repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. Their duties include reviewing blueprints, cutting metal into the appropriate shape and smoothing molten metal to remove creases.
Result area's
1. Inspections, Checks & Overhauls
- Perform welding activities using SMAW, GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), FCAW, and other approved welding processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and fabrication specifications.
- Prepare materials and equipment before welding operations.
- Fit, align, and secure parts prior to welding.
- Inspect welds for quality, defects, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting torches, and other fabrication tools safely.
- Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Quality Control procedures.
- Repair defective welds and carry out rework as required.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure tools are in good working condition.
- Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
2. Administration & reporting
Responsible for the reporting all finding, operations, processing of each completed machining task (selection of raw material, machining processes, consumables, quality, inspection) to Supervisor.
3. Customer contact
Responsible for the technical feedback about the job status to the Supervisor.

Education & Competencies

Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in relevant work experience in welding components/parts.
