Purpose of the job
The Sales Engineer is responsible for promoting and selling on-site machining, field services, and precision engineering solutions to customers in the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, steel, marine, and industrial sectors. The role combines technical expertise and commercial skills to develop business opportunities, prepare technical proposals, manage customer relationships, and achieve sales targets.

Characterization
Involve and Identify develop new business opportunities for on-site machining and field engineering services.
Result area’s
1. Key Responsibilities:
- Promote on site and Shop Machining services.
- Conduct customer visits, technical presentations, and site assessments.
- Review customer inquiries, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to develop technical and commercial proposals.
- Prepare quotations, tender submissions, and cost estimates.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms within company guidelines.
- Monitor project execution to ensure customer satisfaction and identify additional business opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, quotations, opportunities, and customer interactions.
- Achieve individual sales targets and support company growth objectives.
- Participate in industry events, exhibitions, shutdown planning meetings, and customer networking activities.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities within target industries.
2. Technical Knowledge
- On-site machining technologies and applications.
- Engineering drawings, machining tolerances, and technical specification.
3. Customer contact
- Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, industrial plants, and project locations.
- Ability to visit refineries, petrochemical plants, power stations, and construction sites while complying with safety requirements.
Skills
Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, steel, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and industrial maintenance practices.
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, industrial services, rotating equipment, maintenance, or field machining services in the same region.
