The turbine is at a stand still and an urgent repair is required before it can be returned to normal service.

Real world implementation & 3D CAD Design

Metalock Scope of work:

  1. MPI using Magnaflux
  2. Hardness testing using Equiptip
  3. Machining and Superfinishing of the collar surface and Rotor journal as required.
  4. Reprofiling of fillet radius to avoid stress points.
  5. Run-out checking and full reporting of pre/post machining actions

Metalock successfully re-machined and superfinished the thrust collar surface the rotor journal diameter and blended in the radius between the thrust face and the rotor journal.
