Spiral weld and line bore rudder bores

Drydock Repairs

Scope of works:

To provide equipment and personnel to attend the vessel while in drydock and carry out remedial rectification works to 2 x new rudders to ensure a correct mating match between the Rudder Bore and the Rudder Stocks.

Included in our scope of supply are the following services: 

  • Preparation of the existing bores ready for welding.
  • Mig weld both new rudder bores to provide a suitable machining allowance a welding consumable comparable to Steel S355JR (Customer will need to confirm the material specification of the existing rudder stocks) this should be carried out before the vessel dry docks.
  • On arrival of the vessel and removal of existing Rudder stocks from the old rudders, measurement of the port and starboard stocks will be carried out to qualify the true dimensions of each.
  • Tapered Line boring of each of the rudder bores to agreed dimensions to be carried out to ensure the correct fit as detailed in OEM specification and detailed drawing. In addition finish machine the 596mm diameter counter bores.
